Bolton Clarke

Bolton Clarke is ‘for purpose’ and not-for-profit. We re-invest in services and innovation to benefit our customers and the wider community.

Bolton Clarke is the name of the combined RSL Care and Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS).

RDNS was Australia’s oldest home nursing service, established in 1885. When RSL Care and RDNS came together in 2015, we took the name Bolton Clarke. This honours early community leaders Lieutenant Colonel William Kinsey Bolton and Lady Janet Clarke, who each helped shape our organisation’s history and values.

Our background in Queensland

Beginning in Queensland in 1936 as RSL Queensland War Veterans Homes (later RSL Care), our early days focused on providing safe and secure accommodation for war veterans as an extension of care through the RSL community. Our first war veterans’ home, Kingshome, was at Taringa. This was closely followed by our Fernhill community at Caboolture, which was established in 1950.

We are now a national and growing not-for-profit provider of retirement living, aged care, health care and independent living services, with our headquarters close by at Kelvin Grove, Brisbane.

We operate 36 retirement living communities and 70 aged-care homes, many across South East Queensland. Our teams provide more than 4 million visits to more than 50,000 in-home clients and residents every year.

In addition to safe and secure accommodation, we provide in-home nursing and care services, health education and specialised support and living options to meet residents’ health and lifestyle requirements.

Our work is underpinned by the Bolton Clarke Research Institute, ensuring our services and lifestyle offer is informed by the latest knowledge from Australia’s leading experts in care for seniors and the elderly.
